Culture Keeper Bio

Corrina Gould is Lisjan Ohlone born and raised in Huichin (Oakland, CA), a mother, grandmother, and lifelong advocate for Native communities. As Tribal Chair of the Confederated Villages of Lisjan Nation and Co-Founder of Indian People Organizing for Change, she leads efforts to protect sacred sites and Indigenous sovereignty across the Bay Area. Her life’s work led to the creation of Sogorea Te’ Land Trust, an Indigenous women-led organization working to return Indigenous land to Indigenous people in her ancestral territory of the Bay Area. Through land restoration, ceremony, and community building, Sogorea Te’ calls on Native and non-Native peoples to heal and transform colonial legacies and create thriving communities that live in relation to the land. She is one of the leading advocates in the Land Back Movement. She has earned numerous honors, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from News from Native California and induction into the Alameda County Women’s Hall of Fame. Her hope is rooted in prayer, her ancestors, and the next seven generations.

The Culture Keepers

The Culture Keepers exists because the artists, culture keepers, and cultural organizations who sustain the Bay Area’s soul deserve to be seen and supported at the scale of their impact. In service to the cultural sector, we uplift the role of artists and culture keepers in making the Bay Area and our world a place we want to live and thrive in.
