Culture Keeper Bio

Chucha Marquez is a Queer, Nonbinary Chicanx artist, event producer, and social media strategist from the South Bay. It was in a Chicanx Studies screen printing class at UC Davis, where they realized art and printmaking could be more than just a hobby. Inspired by struggles for liberation, gender justice, and immigrant rights, Chucha began creating prints and digital illustrations centering Black, Indigenous, Latinx queer and trans communities. Their work spread all over social media and also appears in a gender expansive coloring book called All Bodies Deserve: The Future of Us. During the pandemic, Chucha stepped into performance art —embodying both drag queen and drag king characters, playing with gender representations of Latinidad with punk rock spirit. They co-produce Dragiarte at Galería de la Raza, a night where drag meets arte in all its loud, queer glory. They currently live in Oakland, CA.
